Before my trip to Stockholm in 2011 I had no idea that the water played such a vital role in this gorgeous city, an archipelago built on 14 islands. We traveled around the city on Lake Mälaren and then headed out to where the lake meets the Baltic Sea for a cruise to Tallin, Estonia and St. Peterburg, Russia. The beginning and end of our journey took us through the Stockholm Archipelago, a series of 20,000 island and islets along the Swedish coast. Here are a handful of images from Stockholm, a beautiful city, as well as images of the Stockholm Archipelago. It was worth getting up before 5 am for that sunrise as we headed back to Stockholm! It's easy to see why the islands are a popular vacation destination for the Swedes and many other Europeans. I'm hoping to get back there in the next few years to vacation on one of them - I absolutely fell in love with them during the cruise. Most of these images are priced for download as stock photos and are also available as prints. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
